Introduction to Virginia’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention
This training gives healthcare providers information on the processes for hearing screenings, as well as the resources that will help parents understand the testing process, roles, and responsibilities.
Overview

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Describe the importance of early hearing detection and intervention
  • Identify roles of primary stakeholders in hearing screening and follow up
  • Identify the requirements for newborn hearing screening in the hospital setting
  • Identify the risk indicators for late onset hearing loss
  • Describe Virginia’s Shared Plan of Care
  • Understand the process of reporting to Virginia Department of Health
  • Identify the different types of hearing loss
