The Critical Congenital Heart Disease, Newborn Dried Blood-Spot and Introduction to Virginia’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention modules offer three types of credit:

1. AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^™
2. Nursing Contact Hours
3. Certification of Participation

The MOC Part 2-Critical Congenital Heart Disease course offers only AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^™.

The Critical Congenital Heart Disease, Newborn Dried Blood-Spot and Introduction to Virginia’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention provides 1 credit and the Dried Blood-Spot module 2 credits. Pediatricians signing up for the Maintenance of Certification module will earn 10 ABP MOC Part 2 points and 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.

Physicians

The University of Virginia School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians and designates these enduring materials for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.

• Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
• Critical Congenital Heart Disease offers 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 credit and 1.0 Nursing Contact hours, and is approved through 3/16/2023
• The MOC Part 2 – Critical Congenital Heart Disease offers 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 credit and 10 MOC Part 2 points (approved by the American Board of Pediatrics), and is approved through 3/16/2023
• Newborn Dried Blood-Spot offers 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 credits and 2.0 Nursing Contact hours, and is approved through 5/31/2023

Certification of Participation

• The University of Virginia School of Medicine awards Certificates of Participation for a maximum of 1 hour for the Critical Congenital Heart Disease, MOC Part 2 – Critical Congenital Heart Disease and Introduction to Virginia’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention and a maximum of 2 hours for the Newborn Dried Blood-Spot to learners who do not require certified credit.
• Participation in enduring materials and web-based CME activities are tracked through log-on and registration procedures. Participants are responsible for accurately tracking their actual time spent on the activity.

You will be asked to choose which type of credit you wish to earn at time of credit claim. You will complete a course evaluation during the credit claim process. Pediatricians who complete the MOC Part 2 module will have their completion directly reported to the American Board of Pediatrics.

MOC completion information is submitted quarterly to the American Board of Pediatrics. If you have credits due by the end of December, be sure you have completed your course content and claimed your certificates by December 1.
